Recommended sleeping pads for Draumr Double Hammock
The Amok Draumr Double hammock is designed to be used together with inflatable sleeping pads for ultimate comfort and insulation. Together with the hammock structure, the inflatable pads gives the Draumr Double hammock its unique flat lay. You don't need an underquilt in the Draumr Double as the the pad insulates from below and keeps you warm. Inside the hammock there are pockets that hold your sleeping pads in place.

Draumr Double is designed to be used with two pads that are approximately 198 cm x 65 cm x 9 cm – these dimensions are known as the industry standard Long Wide (LW). This means that you can use the Draumr Double with our LW-pads, or you can use pads from other brands if they have the same size and construction. See general and specific sleeping pad recommendations for Draumr Double below.
Please note: If you already have a Fjøl XL sleeping pad you can use this int the Draumr Double(read more at the bottom of the page).
Recommended
Sleeping pads with tubes going lengthwise work better because they help stretch the hammock fabric. Make sure you use a rectangular pad, not a "mummy" shaped one.
Varying comfort
Inflatable pads with tubes going across are not recommended. They can work if they have an especially firm structure. You can see a few recommendations on pads like this in the overview below.
Not recommended
Thin inflatable pads or regular foam pads will not work.
Sleeping pad recommendations:
- Amok Fjøl LW, Fjøl Winterlight LW and Fjøl Ultralight LW
- Exped Synmats og Downmats
- Big Agnes - Air Core Ultra and Insulated Air Core Ultra
- Big Agnes Insulated Q-Core SLX and Insulated Q-Core Deluxe
- REI Stratus Insulated Air Sleeping Pad
- Mammut Comfort Mat
Can be used with an XL pad
Even though the Draumr Double is designed for LW-sized sleeping pads, the hammock can be used with LW- (198 x 65 cm) AND XL-sized (220 x 65 cm) pads. An XL pad will have to be folded downwards (in the foot end) to fit the pad pocket. This works surprisingly well, we’ve tested it ourselves! Check out the video below to see it.
